IMCHRONIC MOVEMENT , an independent MOVEMENT desire to provide a financial lifeline for inadequately insured Artist. Together they have launched a MOVEMENT to provide co-payment and premium assistance to Medicare patients living with a chronic illness as well as the opportunity to be educated and consider medical marijuana more affordable and accessible alternative. Through the fund, IMCHRONIC will provide financial assistance towards medical bills to eligible chronically ill patients especially music artists jumpstart them with supplemental insurance or the opportunity to consider medical marijuana via way of a monthly lottery. Additionally IMCHRONIC will educate individuals with regards to financial sustainability in order to keep supplemental insurance and/or sustain a better quality of live via use of CBD oils/medical marijuana.
Founder/patient Herbrena Gordon Godfrey is a music artist and understands the need to keep additional insurance health in addition to having Government assistance. She understands the fear associated with it as well and how the enormous financial strain slowly diminishes healing and artistic possibility and opportunity. HerBrena has experienced and further recognises that evidence-based studies have proven that cannabis can be beneficial to patients suffering from illnesses such as AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and many other serious, debilitating, or terminal conditions. The properties in marijuana can greatly relieve chronic pain associated with these illnesses. Additionally, many patients have tried the typically prescribed drugs during their suffering and have found little to no positive results. For some, medical marijuana is the only substance that can lift their suffering so they can lead manageable, happier, and more fulfilling lives at more than half the cost of conventional medicine saving government $$$$$$$$$$$$.
To further assist Chronic patients/Artist and their families IMCHRONIC will furnish Scholarships to children of applicants who desire to further their educational experience in the Arts. Herbrena is especially drawn to Arts and Humanities as "The humanities help us understand each other through our respective languages, history, culture and self expression( children of chronically ill patients will be encouraged to think and execute creatively to get away if only for a moment). The push to express oneselfn teaches to reason about being human, to feel okay to ask questions about anything and answer with color, emotion, heart and a better understanding that releases emotional healing and coping skills.
In addition to the scholarship component IMCHRONIC will address issues pertaining to young adults who are budding artist ages 20-25 through a program called DROP OFF. These individuals are usually the caregivers who fall through the cracks. They are usually taking care of an ill parent or supplementing dollars for the family.
DROP Off will cater to issues such as sustained involvement with alcohol and drugs which may be an important factor predisposing individuals to continued engagement in criminal activities. More often than not household of individuals with a parent who is chronically ill has a greater chance of this happening due to the stress of young adults having more responsibility at an earlier age and less opportunity to explore their youth.
Approximately 30% of the more than two million adults incarcerated in the United States were arrested as juveniles, and more than 84% report involvement with substances. Given the extraordinary economic burden of mass incarceration on society—not to mention its profound effects on the individual, their family, and their community—it is critical that we examine strategies to address factors contributing to reducing recidivism, including effective substance abuse treatment.
Additionally, the program reaches out to address and provide services for individuals upon release from prison to facilitate a successful transition back into society who face a huge economic setback as a result of this incident relating to chronic illness. It is recognised that Chronic illness sometimes affects the decisions of family members who while in survival mode fall short and very well resort to crime, as well as individuals having been imprisoned are released and suffering from some sort of chronic illness. Research shows that people who are behind bars have chronic health conditions at significantly higher rates than the general population. Men and women who are incarcerated often have multiple health problems, and being locked up can exacerbate them.
